Firewood Permit

            Evolution of human civilization started with the invention of producing fire. Then they had learned to fire the forest rotten wood for warmth, protection and preparing delicious food items. In the present day world to minimize the waste, protect the ecology, and natural resources name of resources is defined and federal and state laws govern the use of resources. Vital natural resources are declared as government properties. Permission is to be obtained from government to collect forest wood. Permits are issued for a limited time and limited quantity to cut the forest wood for personal use.

Firewood Permit

            Firewood is a small size wood used as a fuel mostly for domestic use. It is not a highly processed wood. It may be dry or green. The drier the firewood the more heat value it has and dry firewood cost more. Below is provided a heat value list of some types of firewood. Firewood is generally harvested in winter when it can be seasoned easily. Firewood is a renewable resource. By proper regulation and consumption rate and renewal can be controlled. Heat value list:

. Tamarack   22.3 MMBTU/cord

. Birch         21.3 MMBTU/cord

. White Fir    17.6 MMBTU/cord       where

1 cord = 128 cubic feet (3 inch circle of 4 foot long logs)

            All state and local governments issue a firewood permit for personal use. The firewood permit allows to cut/collect specified firewood logs from designated area of a forest. User has to fill out required information on an official form, sign it, and pay the fee. The fee ranges from $8 to & $25 per ton. The following are the necessary information:

            . Personal contact number, e-mail address

            . Driver license

            . Vehicle make and registration number

            . Pensioner number

            . Credit Card details

The following documents are to be carried and to be shown on demand while collecting firewood:

            . A copy of the permit

            . The area map as shown in the permit  

            . Familiar with safety and environmental issues

Permit Guidelines:

            . Limit is 15 cords/household/year

            . Previously cut and/or stacked wood.

            . No falling trees are to be collected
